Laren began his oilfield career in the early 90’s with coil-tubing and pumping experience supervision at NOWSCO. During the late 90’s, he moved on to Cardium Oil Tools as a field tool hand and eventually into management where he was responsible for three operational stations and the associated personnel. Cardium was subsequently purchased by Weatherford and, from this merger, Laren was able to expand his knowledge by moving to Calgary into a technical services role, overseeing on and offshore down hole completion technologies. Developing new technologies and writing technical documents allowed Laren to work closely with large oil and gas producers. The growth in new and existing products enabled Laren to be a key point of contact for his clients and colleagues which eventually led into being promoted to Canadian Sales Manager for the completions division.
Away from work, Laren is passionate about vehicle restoration and anything outdoors. Being active outside creates a perfect balance for him with family and the technical responsibilities of his role with Tier 1.
