One of the biggest challenges facing operators is identifying the source and mitigating surface casing vent flows and/or gas migrations.
Millions of dollars are spent each year in unsuccessful attempts to locate and eliminate gas venting or migrating to surface. The complicated nature of the problem makes it difficult to determine why the attempt failed: whether the source was not properly identified, or the mitigation was unsuccessful, or both.
Tier 1’s approach is to give customers access to a comprehensive toolbox of services and expertise critical to tackling this problem. We offer customers the best chance to identify and eliminate gas sources on the first attempt using a variety of technologies, including:
Whether it’s a deep toe shoot in the Montney or at hundreds of metres in the Viking, Tier 1 has the tubing conveyed perforating (TCP) products and the experienced supervisors necessary to deploy them.
Our operations in Leduc, Grande Prairie, Bonnyville and Lloydminster allow us to cover the Western Canadian Basin. We can design a job to meet any client’s TCP needs through a wide range of firing head options, specially designed pressure-activated to use with plug setting tools, and the equipment to run multi-stage jobs off eCoil.
Our technology and excellent track history of service delivery makes Tier 1 the clear leader of well integrity logging in Canada – From injector conversion to integrity checks in ageing heavy oil wells, we have our clients covered.
Through our relation with our partners, we have an extensive selection of casing inspection technology and services. If you are looking for high resolution logs, or to perform your log through tubing, or even to evaluate multiple casing strings for internal and external corrosion, we have what you require. Tier 1 has an extensive tool box of multiple technologies that can be utilized to address numerous logging requirements, environments, and scenarios. Reach out to our team of experts to find out the best suited well integrity log solution for your challenge.
Whatever the job, we have the right tools with the right people to run it—from a bridge plug set and a cement dump bailer to a collar locator-gamma ray log and a perforating gun.
We have a full selection of standard mechanical tools run by experienced crews in our locations throughout Western Canada. We have access to any gun system available in Canada through our partnerships with various perforating suppliers. For rigless jobs, we have mast units available to eliminate the need for a crane.
TriStim Perforating System
DownloadIn pump-down perforating operations, efficiency is the key to success. Our experienced wellsite teams, management and engineering staff continuously evaluate our wellsite procedures and processes in close coordination with our clients to ensure efficiencies are always achieved.
To achieve these efficiencies, we have introduced our Smooth cable to the Canadian market, eliminating the need for grease injection and allow for a step change in running speeds. In addition, our technologically advanced Ballistic Release tool almost completely eliminates downhole failures with conventional release tools.
As the industry has moved to horizontal wells almost exclusively, the rig time required for most reservoir analysis by open-hole too cost prohibitive.
Many of the measurements that were exclusively open-hole can now be made in cased-hole. Tier 1 has sonic, neutron, and density porosity tools for cased-hole, in addition to a sigma measurement as a pseudo-resistivity tool. We can also determine mineralogy using pulsed neutron technology. Logging cased-hole eliminates drilling rig downtime and can be performed with no rig at all. Measurements can be made in the horizontal, either with tractor, coiled tubing, or pumping down; most can be run on memory. To achieve even greater savings, measurements can be logged in batches before any completions operations. We can show customers how to high grade their reservoirs and perforate the most productive areas while avoiding perforating and fracture stimulating non-productive zones.
The depth and flexibility of our offerings, combined with our experienced team make Tier 1 the leading choice for any pipe recovery needs.
We are the only service company capable of delivering pipe recovery and cased-hole services off the same unit, providing flexibility when you need it. We can supply pipe cutting services to 15,000 psi, a full range of chemical cutters, speciality and motorized free point tools as well as side entry equipment for top drive operations.
